I hope you are enjoying the weekend whatever you're doing and whatever weather your experiencing. Here it has been a rainy day and the garden is looking all the better for it ... the plants were all needing a really good drink!
Here's my share for today.
Why 'sixty ... at last'? This story will not spare my blushes but I can only blame it on the fact that my grey matter is getting on a bit. Last year I had a senior moment and got it into my head that it was my little brother's 60th birthday on 20th May ...
For the design of today's card, I've used a sketch found on a recently discovered site, Retro Sketches.
As you can see, it's a sketch for one of the older challenges but I thought it was a perfect starter for this card.
It's a simple enough wee card to make. The Kraft base card measures 5½" x 4". The embossed panel is a snippet from an earlier testing session. Because, I wanted to spell out the word sixty, I cut 5 strips of the striped paper, about 2½" long x ½"wide, to make the pennants. The EM printed the phrase as needed on his label maker. They were a bit finicky to cut out but fitted perfectly on the white card candy. Some black/white baker's twine to 'string' the pennants up and wrap round the panel, and the matted sentiment, and the front is finished.
The inside has a panel of white card, bands of striped paper and a die-cut sentiment label left over from another project.
- Kraft Notecards
- Snippets of smooth white card and black card (for matting the greeting)
- Spellbinders M-Bossabilities Nobility, Design B
- Crafts Too Designer Paper Pack - snippets of black/white striped design
- White Card Candi
- White/Black Baker's Twine
- Anita's Foiled Die Cut Sentiment
Challenges I'm submitting this card to are:
Allsorts Challenge - Week 54 - Card for a man or boy
Hiding in My Craft Room - #45 - Super Scraps Saturday
One Stop Craft Challenge - Monochrome
And lastly, Pixie's Crafty Snippets Challenge - 19 - no new snippets were created but a few old ones were used up :)
Okay, I'm off for another play in the craft space, after I've tidied up the table which is a mess ... how can the making of one wee card create such a mess ... it's a mystery!
Take care and enjoy the rest of Sunday.
